Procedure

  1. Poll students: "Do you believe you have a preference for visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning? Do you believe this preference significantly affects your learning outcomes?"
  2. Organize students in pairs to discuss and articulate their beliefs about learning styles
  3. Instruct students to engage in a conversation with an AI system, beginning with: "I am a [visual/auditory/kinesthetic] learner. I feel a strong preference for learning in that way. But I am not certain. Can you assist me in determining this more accurately?"
  4. Allow students to converse with the AI for 5-10 minutes, documenting the AI's responses and recommendations
  5. Reveal the scientific consensus: Learning styles theory lacks empirical support and does not significantly affect learning outcomes
  6. Have students return to the AI to challenge it regarding learning styles myths, documenting how the AI responds to correction
  7. Task students with identifying additional educational or cognitive myths to investigate using AI
