Knowledge clip, Video

A knowledge clip is a short video or animation that explains or elaborates on a specific subject or skill. Use knowledge clips, for example, to help students visually understand complex concepts or skills. You can use them in class or during self-study when applying flipping the classroom, for example. You can make a knowledge clip yourself, find a suitable clip on the Internet or with colleagues, or have it made externally.

As a form of examination, you can use a knowledge clip in several ways:

• Testing for understanding - show your students a knowledge clip on a specific topic and then ask questions to determine if they understand the material.
• Testing on skills - show your students a knowledge clip on how to perform a skill. Think of a scientific test or a technique. Then let your students perform the skill themselves and assess their performance.
• Creative assignment - have your students create their own knowledge clip on a specific topic, clearly indicating exactly what the clip should meet. This helps strengthen creative skills and understanding of the topic.
• Self-assessment or reflection - use a knowledge clip to let students evaluate their own understanding of a topic. In this way, students themselves identify their areas of concern and development opportunities, actively reflect and can improve themselves.
